([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) 1724 / 70.051

A common species in the south, less common in the north of the region.

Found in a wide range of habitats.

Comes readily to light and overwinters as a pupa.

Note Care is needed to separate from Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet. Latter usually lacks red or purple in central band (there is a red form). Red Twin-spot generally brighter and central band more distinctly edged white. Underneath is brighter and orange-brown towards the tip on Red Twin-spot, plainer and greyer on Dark-barred. Check genitalia if in doubt.
