A common but declining species across the region. Unlike Red-twin-spot commoner in the north.

Found in a wide range of habitats.

Comes readily to light and overwinters as a pupa.

Note Care is needed to separate from Red Twin-spot Carpet. Red Twin-spot generally brighter and central band more distinctly edged white. Underneath of Red Twin-spot is brighter and orange-brown towards the tip, plainer and greyer on Dark-barred. Check genitalia if in doubt.
