An uncommon resident.

A species of heaths, moors, woodland rides and clearings.

Overwinters as a pupa. Adults may be found on sallow catkins and are attracted to light.

There can be confusion with Early Tooth-striped. Look at the antennae: This species has feathered antennae (more so on the male, but the female also) whereas Early Tooth-striped has simple antennae (both male and female.
