Rheumaptera cervinalis

(Scopoli, 1763) 1788 / 70.122
=Hydria cervinalis

An uncommon resident, especially in the south-east of the region.

Found in urban and suburban areas where its foodplant grows in gardens and amenity areas.

Overwinters as a pupa while adults fly from dusk and occasionally come to light.

Note very similar to the commoner Tissue but wings more pointed and rougher rather than shiny. Also, the central cross-lines are closer together and often merged. The underside has more obvious black central markings and two dark marks close to the base of the forewing edge.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.

Recorded in 38 (27%) of 140 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2022.
