A common resident found across the region.

Common in oak woodland but also in hawthorn hedgerows and gardens.

Overwinters as a pupa and adults come readily to light.

Note A medium-sized pug. The black dart-like markings beyond the small, elongate discal spot and early flight period aid identification. Often has a tawny component and also a whitish area around the discal spot.
