An uncommon though increasing resident.

Sometimes abundant in Poplar plantations and willow beds but also in hedgerows, scrub, woodland, gardens.

Overwinters as a small larva in a communal web. Adults come readily to light.

Note Larger than Yellow-tail and Brown-tail.Appears more translucent and legs are black and white.
