Four-spotted Footman

A rare migrant to the region.

A species of mature broadleaved woodland.

Overwinters as a larva and adults are attracted to light.

Note Only the female has the spots on the wing. The yellow patches at the base of the forewing in the male are diagnostic. It is a much bigger species than other footmen.
