An uncommon species.

A species of broadleaved woodland, parks and some gardens where poplars grow.

Overwinters as a pupa while adults come to light and also visit sallow catkins.

Note some forms of Clouded Drab are similar but this species has a leaden-grey colour and males have feathered antennae.
