A common resident across the region.

Found in a wide ranger of open habitats including gardens and open woodland.

Overwinters as a small larva and adults come readily to light.

Note often mistaken for the rarer White-point. In Clay the white mark on the kidney mark is small to almost absent and tear-shaped or ellipitical. On White-point it is much more obvious and almost round.

Recorded in 116 (83%) of 140 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1869.
Last Recorded in 2023.
