(Borkhausen, 1794) 1715 / 70.018

A local and uncommon species across our region.

A species of acid woodland and heathland.

Overwinters as a larva and adults fly from dusk, coming to light.

Note Many claimed records of this species turn out to be the non-banded form of Riband Wave. It is NOT common away from its preferred habitats. In Riband the 3rd or outer cross-line is kinked as it meets the costa; not so in Plain Wave.
