An uncommon and declining resident. Local in distribution.
A species of heathland, moorland, calcareous grassland.
Flies during the day but also comes to light.
Note Very similar to July Belle. The small black dot is tear-shaped and usually mid-way between the 2nd and 3rd lines; in July Belle it is round and usually nearer the 2nd line. July Belle also flies a little later though it overlaps.These characters are variable so genitalia examination is preferred.
