Eulithis populata

(Linnaeus, 1758) 1756 / 70.091

A common species where it occurs.

Found on moorland and heathy woodland.

Overwinters as an egg while adults fly at dusk, sometimes in numbers and later come to light.

Note Care needed to separate from Spinach but the distinctive resting position of that species should help to eliminate it.

Verification Grade Comment: Ideally take a photo if away from regular sites.

Recorded in 92 (66%) of 140 10k Squares.
