A fairly common resident in the south, less so in the north.

A species of fens, marshy areas, damp woodland.

Overwinters as a pupa, adults only sparingly attracted to light.

Note The name comes from the triangle of spots made by the discal spot and two others on the leading edge of the wing. These are not always easy to see and dissection is often required.
