A common resident found across the region.

A species of oak woodland and hedgerows.

Overwinters as a pupa and adults fly from dusk and come readily to light.

Note Easily confused with Brindled Pug. Smaller and with a more prominent, rounder discal spot. Wing is more rounded and the pale area beyond the discal spot more obvious. Worn specimens will require dissection.
