A fairly common resident, especially in the north.

A species of a wide range of habitats.

Overwinters as a pupa while adults are attracted to light.

Note A difficult species to identify, especially the melanic variety when dissection will be required. Similar to Grey Pug but Golden-rod has chequered veins beyond the prominent discal spot and sometimes a white spot on the thorax.
