Formerly resident in Wyre Forest. Records to 1940s.

A species of lowland heath, fens, bogs.

Overwinters as a larva. Males fly by day, the wingless females remaining on their cocoon.

Note the brown and white marks near the wing tip and the chocolate brown colouration separate it from the Vapourer.
