A common resident across the region.

Most abundant in fens, wet meadows and damp woodland.

Overwinters as a larva. Adults can be found on plants during the day but come to light later on.

Note Its shape, like that of a melon seed, with very curved leading edge to the wing separates it from other footmen species.
