A species that once lived up to its name but which is now a common resident.
Found in a wide variety of habitats.
Overwinters as a small larva while adults come readily to light.
Note Similar to Common Footman but this species rolls it wings round its body in a tube-like manner. The yellow stripe along the leading edge is of a constant width up to the tip whereas on Common it narrows.
