Found in a wide variety of habitats.

Overwinters underground as a larva. Adults come readily to light, often in large numbers and visit sugar.

Note similar to Lesser Yellow Underwing but is larger, kidney mark is filled with dark grey and there is a dark mark near the end of the wing.
