A fairly common resident, more so in the south.

More often found in damp and open broadleaved woodland but sometimes in parks and gardens.

Overwinters as a larva. The adults come to light and to sugar but also visit flowers.

Note most resembles Double Square-spot but that species has a broader wing and doesn't have the pinkish tinge.
