An uncommon and local species found in the north and west of the region.

A species of moorland and upland scrub though it has been found some distance from those habitats so may be an immigrant too.

Overwinters as an egg. Adults can be found resting on vegetation or fences during the day when they resemble a heather twig or Grouse dropping. They are attracted to light and to sugar.
