A fairly common resident.

A species of broadleaved woodland and parkland.

Adults overwinter and they visit Ivy blossom, over-ripe blackberries in the autumn and Sallow catkins in the spring. They also come sparingly to light.

Note Similar to Tawny Pinion and shares the same thoracic and abdominal crests but they are not blue-black. Also there is no black mark near the trailing corner of the forewing.
