A fairly common resident that has spread from urban areas into the wider countryside.

Most frequent in urban and suburban areas, particularly in and parks and gardens.

Overwinters as a pupa, sometimes more than once. Adults can be found resting on tree trunks, fences etc and later are attracted to light and to sugar.
