Note Adults of Grey and Dark Daggers cannot be distinguished other than by dissection but the larvae can be separated with care.

In Grey Dagger larvae the hump is larger than on Dark Dagger; there are two red dashes on each segment whereas there are three on Dark Dagger and the warts on each segment appear as dark spots whereas on Dark Dagger they are white (Roy Leverton).
