A species of towns and open country on calcareous soils and where stone walls are present.
Overwinters as a small larva and adults come to light and to sugar.
Note it is often mistaken for darker forms of Marbled Beauty but the wings are broader and less tapered and the inner central cross-line is incomplete and fails to meet the trailing edge of the wing.
