Overwinters as a larva and adults are attracted to light.
Note form obscura which is more brown and with inconspicuous markings can be mistaken for the Confused but that species has a scale tuft near base of the trailing edge. The wing of Dusky Brocade is also broader and with a more curved leading edge and only one dark band beneath.
