A fairly species across the region; the least common of the three species.
Found in a wide variety of grassy habitats including gardens.
Overwinters as a larva and adults come readily to light.
Note Melanic individuals are common, especially in urban areas. If the melanic moth shows a orangey or wine-red central shade that is a pointer to it possibly being a Rufous Minor. However dissection will be needed to confirm.
