Overwinters as a larva and adults come readily to light.

Note Melanic individuals are common, especially in urban areas. If the melanic moth shows a sub-terminal orange-brown shade that is a pointer to it possibly being a Tawny Marbled Minor. However dissection will be needed to confirm.
