A rare species not seen since before 1999. Just one 1900 record for Staffordshire.

A species of river banks, ditches, damp field margins where the foodplant grows.

Overwinters as an egg while adults have been attracted to light placed close to stands of the foodplant.

Note easily confused with the commoner Rosy Rustic but it has a broader brown not pinkish wing and can be up to twice the size.
