A common and widespread species.

Found in most lowland habitats.

Overwinters as a larva while adults come readily to light and to sugar.

Note Uncertain and Rustic are very similar and worn examples will have to be dissected. Uncertain is more tawny and the contrast between the background colour and the colour of the kidney mark and oval mark is greater.
