A common species in the south but becoming more common in the north.

A species of grassland, woodland rides and weedy places.

Overwinters as a larva and adults come regularly to light.

Note Any records of Common Quaker in the autumn are going to be this species. It is also very similar to the Rustic with a lack of contrast between the stigmas and the background colour. It tends to be greyer and more shiny than Rustic and lacks the strong central cross-line. The stigmas are usually larger too.
