A fairly common resident.

A species of unimproved and flower rich grassland.

Overwinters as a pupa while adults fly during the daytime when they can be found feeding on flowers.

Note could be mistaken for the the pyralid Pyrausta aurata but that species has at least one orange mark on the forewing.

Recorded in 97 (69%) of 140 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1857.
