Lempke's Gold Spot
Plusia putnami

Lempke, 1966 2440 / 73.023

An uncommon resident.

Found in fens, marshes and other damp places.

Overwinters as a small larva and adults come to light.

Note Care needed to separate from the commoner Gold Spot. In this species the large triangle near the wing tip is blunt-ended but is sharp and extended in Gold Spot. Also, the cross-lines are more distinct in Lempke's. However, these features are not always clear cut and dissection in advised where doubt exists.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.

Recorded in 11 (8%) of 140 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1992.
Last Recorded in 2022.
