A resident, generally distributed across the region. The introduction of a pheromone lure in 2020 has greatly altered our knowledge of its abundance. It has been found to be much commoner and widespread than once thought.

Larvae are found in the living wood of a variety of willow species.

Rarely seen but comes readily to the new pheromone lure.

Note Similar to Hornet Moth but distinguished by its black shoulder patches and head and yellow collar.
