A common species across the region.

Found in most habitats.

Overwinters as a larva and adults come readily to light.

The plain form is very similar to Plain Wave and great care must be taken if claiming the latter. In Riband the 3rd or outer cross-line is kinked as it meets the costa; not so in Plain Wave.
