A common resident, probably found throughout the region, but true picture not known because of identification difficulties.

Most numerous in broadleaved woodland but also found in hedgerows, gardens, scrub.

Overwinters as an egg while adults fly readily from dusk and come to light.

Note Can ONLY be reliably be identified by examination of the genitalia.
