A fairly common resident.

Found in a range of habitats.

Overwinters as an egg. Females have vestigial wings and are flightless, males fly from dusk and come readily to light.

Note Males are very similar to Winter Moth but more silky in appearance, usually slightly bigger and the hindwings are longer and more white and protrude slightly beyond the forewings when resting.
