A fairly common resident found across the region.

A species of broadleaved woodland, fen, scrubby heathland.

Overwinters as a pupa. Adults can be found on tree trunks during the day and come readily to light.

There can be confusion with Mottled Grey. Look at the antennae: This species has simple antennae (both male and female), whereas Mottled Grey has feathered antennae (more so on the male, but the female also)
