Fairly common resident.

In well drained unimproved grassland and drier woodland rides. Flies in sunshine and can be swept from grass and low herbage, and sits in flowers of various herbaceous plants.

Larvae feed on young growth of herbaceous plants (Langmaid, Palmer & Young).
