Common resident of birch woodland and commons.

Betula spp. with larva feeding May/June and August/September spinning leaves together into an untidy bunch.

Associated especially with young coppice birch, sometimes less than one year old.

A variable species, cannot reliably be distinguished from A. ferrugana except by dissection.
