Generally a rare resident although it may be fairly common in spruce plantations.

Picea spp. or Abies alba with larva feeding in June/July at first mining a needle, later in spun needles. Pupates in a cocoon amongst leaf litter or in the soil.

Males fly around spruces and along plantation rides in sunshine.
