Epiblema foenella

Uncommon resident on urban wasteland and roadsides.

Artemisia vulgaris with larva feeding from August to May in the roots, and pupating in the lower stem. Occupied dead stems easily break off at the base in late winter/early spring, leaving a plug of chewed pith and frass visible.
