A local southern species of deciduous woodland. Adults rest by day on tree trunks while they come freely to light.

Note can be very similar to Scoparia ambigualis but is a little larger, broader-winged and with the apex blunter. Often has a faint yellowish-brown tinge and is heavily speckled dark grey or blackish. Cilia are often whitish with a chequered pattern. If in doubt dissection is needed.
