Pyrausta nigrata

(Scopoli, 1763)1366 / 63.009

Rare resident of calcareous grassland in the extreme south of the region.

Larvae on Thyme and Marjoram etc.

Flies during the day between April and October but does find its way into light traps.

Resident on Bredon Hill, but only recorded from areas within VC33 East Gloucs. One presummed vagrant recorded at light in 2020 at Norchard, Worcs. was the first within VC37 for over a century.

Recorded in 8 (6%) of 140 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2021.
