A local species of marshy habitats, mainly is the south-west. The adults rest amongst the foodplant and are easily disturbed. They later come to light.

Note in the similar and commoner Udea lutealis the cross-lines are more sinuate, the stimata larger and more defined and there is a dark cloud in the apex of the wing.
