Oncocera semirubella

(Scopoli, 1763)1441 / 62.021

Rare, occasional immigrant and resident at one site in Worcestershire, first recorded in 2020. Prefers sparsely vegetated calcareous habitats including limestone cliffs and quarries.

Larvae feed from August to June on Bird's-foot Trefoil Lotus corniculatus and White Clover Trifolium repens, hibernating overwinter and then feeding in a dense web. Pupates in a tough cocoon, amongst the foodplant or on the ground.

Comes to light and sugar.
