Locally common resident.
Larvae feed on ferns, especially Asplenium scolopendrium and Polystichium setiferum.
Imagines can be found at almost any time of year. Day-flying around food plant and sometimes coming to light.
Larvae feed on sporangia after a short mining phase.
Differs from P.verhuella in that the larvae hide under an untidy mass of spun sporangia and have brown Head. Imagines have a white, tornal spot.
