Uncommon resident.

Occurs in acidic woodland usually amongst Bilberry Vaccinium myrtillis. Flies in sunshine and is attracted to flower heads of Carex spp. and Pinus sylvestris.

Larvae have been found in leaf litter (Langmaid, Palmer & Young).

Recorded in 33 (24%) of 140 10k Squares.
