Coleophora milvipennis

Rare resident.

Betula spp. with larva mining leaves from July to October in a brown, flat, bivalved case made from pieces cut from the margin of a leaf, overwintering in the final case attached to a birch twig, and not normally feeding again until the spring. Prefers small seedling or regenerating birch.
