Common resident.

Can be found feeding, sometimes in large numbers, on flowerheads of Carex spp. and in the flowers of Ranunculus spp. in wet woodland and on marshy commons.

Larvae are negatively phototrophic and are found in most conditions, feeding on the young growth of herbaceous plants e.g. Carex sylvaticella (Langmaid, Palmer & Young).
